The Albuquerque Biz Gratis Event Was a Success!
On Wednesday, July 31st, Enchanted Farms Mushrooms, in partnership with the Hispano Chamber of Commerce, hosted a formal ribbon cutting and Biz Gratis event. We saw a wonderful cross section of the community come together to engage in local food, urban agriculture and business networking. This was a true testament to the mycelial network at play.
The evening kicked off with an official ribbon cutting ceremony marking the completion of our farm’s build out. We have spent the last two months expanding our footprint at WESST by building clean rooms for our mushroom culture and substrate labs along with the creation of a bag making operation. Now, we can manage each step of the mushroom growing process and offer our customers even more unique varieties of mushrooms than ever before.
We started this business in January of this year out of our basement just producing fruit in a single grow tent. In seven short months, we have grown from one tent to three, hired our first employee and are able to harvest up to 200 pounds per week of mushrooms.
Our customer base has grown and we maintain a consistent booth at the Downtown Growers and Corrales Growers markets. Some of our Chef clients include Farm & Table, Scalo, Rumor Pizza, 315 Restaurant & Wine Bar and Dig & Serve. We also work with groups such as the Changing Women Initiative, a Native American non-profit organization providing women's health care, prenatal care, and home birth services to Native American Women, BIPOC, and low income women. CWI is working to help reverse certain nutritional deficiencies and relieve food insecurity by working with local farms such as ours.
Our Mycologist, Jacob Harris, has come into the operation full-time and is bringing his passion and expertise to its full potential. Jacob is taking over our operations to focus on producing high-quality mushrooms for the people of New Mexico. Now that we have our own lab, we can make our own grow blocks and supply you all with your own ready to fruit grow blocks that you can take home and grow yourself.
We're excited about where things stand today and look forward to bringing more good news from Enchanted Farms.
We have worked to develop a new tincture using Lion’s Mane fruiting bodies that deliver the active compounds of Lion’s Mane in their purest form. These mushrooms were fermented to break down the tougher outer cell walls making polysaccharides, triterpenes, and alkaloids more bioavailable. Using filtered water to draw out the polysaccharides, then mushrooms are then put through an organic alcohol bath further drawing out the triterpenes. These products are certified organic and have been third party tested for active compounds such as alpha and beta glucans. The tincture is available in 2 oz bottled for $32 online and at the farmer’s markets.
